vegan tuna fishIs there a vegan alternative to tuna fish?

I'm a vegan (previously I was a vegetarian for many years). SO, I haven't had tuna fish in like 10 years or something. BUT, I was wondering if there is some alternative that would be like eating a tuna sandwich? I currently am having the tofutti "cheese" with vegan mayo and veggies, but am kinda looking for a new sandwhich.
Try this one!

1 - 15oz. can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
2T. soy vegan mayonnaise or pureed silken tofu
1T. sweet pickle relish
2t. spicy brown mustard
salt and pepper to taste

In small bowl, mash chickpeas. Add soy mayonnaise or silken tofu, pickle relish, mustard, salt and pepper and mix well. This is wonderful in a whole-wheat pita with sprouts and some chopped tomato! Makes 4 servings.

Vegweb is my favorite recipe source by far. Try it out!
ive been looking into vegan "tuna' recipes too! i just picked up "Maine Coast sea seasoning" it has dulse, laver and sea lettuce, its supposed to be a good source of iodine and its vegan tuna fisha low sodium alternative to salt, and supposedly sea seasonings are super in fake tuna recipes :) hope that helps!

I've had tofu salad that is similar to tuna salad. Mayo, crumbled tofu, celery, onions, herbs. They used to carry it a whole foods, but I'm not sure if they still do. I'm sure you can find some recipes online

Sorry ... I just realized you said Vegan. You'll probably have to make your own with vegan mayonnaise.
Worthington foods used to make one, not sure if they do any more.

VegeUSA.com makes Vegan Tuna Rolls, my friend loves them.

Get a can of garbanzo beans and smash them up, add celery, etc - it's not tuna but it's a new sandwich for you.
my roommate makes a really awesome faux tuna salad for sandwiches, with crumbled tempeh (uncooked, i think), and then just the vegan mayo, onions, whatever else.

hope that helps!
Here's a vegan alternative
asmar's veggie tuna available at whole foods.
I'm not a vegetarian, but I vegan tuna fishnever understand the compulsion to eat fake meat. I have a few vegetarian friends that were raised that way from birth and they hate fake burgers, hot dogs, tofurkey. They don't eat meat because they don't believe in harming animals, why would you want to eat something that looks like one?
vegetarians don't eat tuna..... and the replacement of tuna is fruits and veggies.

that simple.. why in the last 10 years veganism has become 'complicated'?

interesting.

remember, anything processed is under scruteny.... i doubt that the tofutti cheese is vegan.....

read the labels... read them and write down ingredient, additives and other chemicals that you question and look them up online and find out how they're made.

you'll be surprised what makes up 90% of all processed foods.
